The 720-metre-long overbridge connects AT Road with Sripuria and was constructed at a total cost of ₹65 crore. The project was funded jointly by the Assam government and Indian Railways, with the state government contributing ₹35 crore and Indian Railways ₹29 crore.
The inauguration ceremony drew prominent local leaders including Tinsukia MLA Pulak Gohain, Makum MLA Sanjoy Kishan, and Tinsukia District Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, alongside hundreds of residents.
Minister Rameswar Teli highlighted the significance of the bridge, calling it a transformative addition that will resolve long-standing traffic problems caused by frequent railway level crossing closures. He noted that the ROB will reduce travel times, enhance safety, and support trade and daily activities in Tinsukia, known as the commercial lifeline of upper Assam.
MLA Pulak Gohain stated that the bridge was a long-pending demand and celebrated its completion as a landmark achievement for the community. He emphasized the positive impact on emergency response times for ambulances and fire services, as well as its role in the town’s sustainable growth.
The newly opened Sripuria ROB is expected to eliminate traffic bottlenecks, provide uninterrupted movement over railway tracks, and significantly ease congestion for thousands of commuters, consolidating Tinsukia’s status as the economic nerve centre of upper Assam.
