On July 5, 2026, Shri Satish Kumar, Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board, conducted an inspection of the Kazipet Rail Manufacturing Unit (RMU) in Telangana. This facility is currently under construction by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) for Indian Railways, located in the Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway.
During his visit, Shri Satish Kumar reviewed the progress made on the project and inspected key areas including the Main Shed, Wheel Shop, Final Testing Shop, and Paint Shop. He also held discussions with State Government officials to further the development plans.
The Kazipet RMU is envisioned as a versatile rolling stock manufacturing hub. It will produce Mainline Electric Multiple Units (MEMUs), coaches, trainsets, and other modern railway rolling stock. Additionally, the unit will provide maintenance and overhaul services for advanced railway vehicles.
This facility is equipped with advanced manufacturing technologies, such as robotic painting systems, modern material handling systems, and state-of-the-art machinery. These features aim to improve quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
Once operational, the Kazipet RMU will enhance India’s railway manufacturing capabilities and complement existing rolling stock production units across the country.
Shri Satish Kumar was accompanied by several senior officials, including Shri Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager of South Central Railway; Dr. R. Gopalakrishnan, Divisional Railway Manager of Secunderabad Division; Shri P.V. Sai Prasad, Chief Project Manager, RVNL, Secunderabad PIU; and Shri Murali Krishna, Group General Manager (Mechanical), RVNL.
