The NaMo Green Rail is a ten-coach train set capable of carrying approximately 2,600 passengers. It generates its own electricity onboard using hydrogen fuel cells, which utilize hydrogen—the cleanest known fuel—to power the train efficiently and sustainably.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described this launch as a significant milestone in the evolution of Indian Railways’ energy sources, transitioning from coal and steam to cleaner and more sustainable alternatives.
This project marks a major step in India’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint and innovate in the transportation sector by adopting advanced clean technology solutions.
