Integral Coach Factory (ICF), the world’s largest coach-producing unit and a flagship production facility of Indian Railways, has achieved a historic milestone with the rollout of its 80,000th coach since its establishment in 1955.
The landmark coach is part of the Amrit Bharat Coach series, symbolising ICF’s seven-decade journey of continuous innovation, engineering excellence, and manufacturing leadership in India’s rolling stock ecosystem.
Over the years, ICF has evolved from manufacturing conventional passenger coaches to becoming a centre of excellence for advanced rolling stock. Its diverse production portfolio includes EMU and DEMU trainsets, AC EMUs, High-Speed Accident Relief Trains (HSART), luxury tourist trains such as the Maharaja’s Express and Golden Chariot, Vistadome coaches, and metro coaches for Kolkata Metro.
ICF has also established a strong global footprint, exporting passenger coaches to several countries across Asia and Africa.

Building on this legacy, ICF is currently spearheading the production of Vande Bharat trainsets and developing next-generation rolling stock including Amrit Bharat Coaches, Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, and Vande Bharat Sleeper trainsets. The factory continues to focus on enhancing passenger comfort, aesthetics, quality, and the integration of cutting-edge technologies.
ICF’s contributions to quality management, environmental sustainability, and social responsibility have earned it numerous national and international accolades.
Congratulating employees on the achievement, Shri U. Subba Rao, General Manager, ICF, said that the rollout of the 80,000th coach reflects the dedication and collective efforts of generations of ICF employees and reaffirms the organisation’s vital role in shaping the future of Indian Railways.
