IRCTC Chairman and MD Sanjay Kumar Jain Resigns; Railways to Name Interim Chief

Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), has resigned from his position on personal grounds. The Ministry of Railways has approved his resignation, effective July 20, 2026.

The announcement was made through a regulatory filing with the stock exchange, which cited a letter from the Ministry of Railways dated June 22, 2026. The letter confirmed the competent authority’s approval of Jain’s resignation.

IRCTC stated that orders for assigning the additional charge of the CMD post will be issued soon to ensure continuity in leadership.

In his resignation letter, Jain expressed that serving IRCTC was “the greatest privilege” of his professional career. He thanked the company’s employees and stakeholders for their support throughout his tenure.

Jain highlighted the company’s progress under his leadership, including its transition from a Mini Ratna enterprise to a Nav Ratna and from Schedule B to Schedule A status. He expressed confidence in IRCTC’s strong position for continued growth.

Jain also assured that he remains committed to facilitating a smooth and orderly transition before formally stepping down on July 20, 2026.
