The new website features a cleaner interface, simplified navigation, and a more streamlined booking process. Key improvements include the removal of unnecessary captchas, pop-ups, and flashing graphics to enhance user experience.
Seat availability is now displayed across all travel classes, allowing passengers to easily compare options. The booking process has been shortened by reducing checkout steps, and saved passenger details speed up repeat bookings.
Users can access the beta version via a dedicated link on the existing IRCTC homepage and are encouraged to provide feedback ahead of the final rollout planned in the coming weeks.
The redesign incorporated valuable suggestions from students of Malaviya National Institute of Technology, Jaipur, who collaborated with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw during the development process.
The revamped website will be integrated with a new upgraded Passenger Reservation Engine currently under development. The Ministry of Railways emphasized that this engine required extensive redevelopment while maintaining uninterrupted service.
On average, the IRCTC platform handles approximately 14.5 lakh ticket bookings daily. The fully integrated new portal and updated reservation engine are expected to launch within the next few weeks.
