
Kuppala Giridhar Kumar emphasized that creating a dedicated railway division in Tirupati would enhance rail infrastructure across the Rayalaseema region and generate significant employment opportunities for the local population. He highlighted Tirupati’s increasing importance as a pilgrimage and commercial center, which justifies greater railway focus and investment.
The memorandum also requested the modernization of Tiruchanur and Chandragiri railway stations to better serve the growing number of commuters and pilgrims. Improving passenger amenities at these stations was identified as a priority.
Among the key proposals was extending the Vijayawada–Gudur Intercity Express to Tirupati to improve regional connectivity. The Samiti advocated introducing Vande Bharat train services linking Tirupati with Visakhapatnam, Mysuru, Coimbatore, and Madurai. Additionally, they suggested launching a service on the Vijayawada–Bengaluru corridor via Tirupati.
To further strengthen railway infrastructure, the delegation called for establishing an electric locomotive shed, a zonal staff training center, and additional pit lines at Pakala. These additions aim to increase operational efficiency and contribute to regional economic growth.
The move underlines ongoing efforts to enhance railway services and infrastructure in Tirupati and the surrounding Rayalaseema area.
