New 1.6km Eight-Lane Railway Overbridge Opens to Connect Greater Noida West and East

A newly constructed 1.6-kilometer-long, eight-lane railway overbridge (ROB) in Greater Noida was officially opened to traffic on Tuesday, June 23, 2026. This key infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity between west and east Greater Noida, easing traffic congestion in the region.

The overbridge was constructed by the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL) along the 130-metre-wide Noida-Greater Noida Link Road, connecting the villages of Makoda and Tilapta. The project began in 2020 with an expected completion in 2022, but delays occurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prabhat Shankar, senior manager of the Greater Noida Authority, highlighted the importance of the ROB: “This will facilitate commuting and help ease traffic congestion in the area.”

The ROB benefits residents of nearby residential societies including Shivalik Homes Park, Ansal Housing, Paramount Golf Foreste, and Migsun Green Mansion by providing relief from frequent traffic jams.

This 130-metre-wide road connects Gaur Chowk in Greater Noida West with sectors such as Zeta 1, Eta 1, Delta 1, and the Greater Noida Authority office. The route also passes through multiple residential and industrial zones.

The underpass beneath the ROB had been prone to waterlogging during monsoon seasons, adding to commuter difficulties.

Reena Yadav, a resident of Supertech Eco Village, noted, “This road is an important connection for people travelling to the Greater Noida Authority office, Surajpur court complex, and various government and police offices in Greater Noida. With the ROB now operational, people will be able to travel across this stretch more smoothly and without disruption.”

The DFCCIL operates under the Ministry of Railways and is currently developing the Dadri section of the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in Greater Noida, within which this ROB project falls.
