Hitendra Malhotra, Director General-Safety of the Railway Board, visited the Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala on June 12, 2026. During his visit, he held a comprehensive meeting with Ajay Nandan, General Manager of RCF, along with principal heads of departments and senior officials.
The discussions focused on coach safety, production performance, and the manufacturing of new-generation coaches planned for the current financial year. The Design Department at RCF presented various initiatives taken to enhance safety features and reinforce critical safety systems in coaches.
Malhotra conducted an in-depth inspection of the coach manufacturing processes in the workshop. He reviewed the production of a rake fitted with newly introduced safety features and examined the electrical equipment and systems installed in the coaches. Detailed discussions on safety-related aspects were held with RCF officials, during which Malhotra provided valuable suggestions to strengthen safety measures further.
He praised the state-of-the-art infrastructure and efficient manufacturing processes at RCF and offered constructive recommendations to boost safety standards and operational efficiency.
Malhotra also visited the Technical Training Centre (TTC) at RCF to review various employee training programs. He evaluated the course content, training methods, and facilities aimed at skill development and capacity building. He commended the technological advancements made by RCF and urged the facility to continue adopting best practices to improve safety, productivity, and operational excellence.
Reaffirming the Railway Board’s support, Malhotra assured full backing for RCF’s growth, innovation, and technological progress.
Following the visit, representatives of the recognized union submitted a memorandum to Malhotra emphasizing staff-related concerns involving employee welfare, working conditions, and organizational development.
