Shri Prem Sagar Gupta Appointed as New General Manager of Metro Railway, Kolkata

The Ministry of Railways has appointed Shri Prem Sagar Gupta as the new General Manager of Metro Railway, Kolkata, effective immediately.

Shri Gupta is a highly distinguished civil engineer from the IRSE 1990 batch. Before this appointment, he served as the Principal Chief Engineer (PCE) of Northern Railway.

He graduated in Civil Engineering with a Gold Medal from Delhi College of Engineering and was the topper in M.Tech from IIT Delhi. Additionally, he earned an M.Phil. from the National Defence College (NDC).

Shri Gupta brings extensive administrative experience, having held senior roles such as Principal Executive Director and Chief Engineer (Planning), as well as Executive Director (Corporate Coordination) at the Ministry of Railways and Railway Board.

Notably, he played a key role as Chief Engineer (Design) in providing engineering solutions for structural stability issues on the high-profile Chenab Bridge and other crucial structures of the Udhampur–Srinagar–Baramulla Rail Link Project.
