The campaign aimed to educate road users, railway employees, and local communities about safe behavior at railway level crossings and the importance of accident prevention.
During the event, railway officials counselled 5,217 road users on proper safety practices for crossing railway tracks. In addition, 201 gatemen and railway staff members received operational safety and vigilance training.
Safety inspections were carried out at 26 level crossing gates to assess standards and identify areas needing improvement.
To maximize outreach, the division held 15 online safety meetings and seminars. Four street plays (Nukkad Nataks) were performed at Solapur railway station and Level Crossing Gate No. 61, delivering impactful safety messages to the public. Around 6,500 safety pamphlets were distributed at railway stations and level crossing points across the division.
A major highlight was a dedicated safety awareness program at Level Crossing Gate No. 61 near Tilati. Officials, local leaders, students, and residents took part in the event where approximately 880 road users were directly counselled. The street play by the Divisional Safety Team and the Divisional Cultural Academy emphasized the risks of unsafe behavior near railway tracks and promoted responsible conduct.
The campaign also focused on electrical safety, particularly hazards related to 25 kV Overhead Equipment (OHE) in electrified sections. Truck drivers, heavy vehicle operators, and railway staff were advised to maintain a safe distance of at least two meters from live electrical installations and to avoid unauthorized contact with overhead wires.
Local dignitaries including the village sarpanch and a school head addressed participants, highlighting the role of community engagement in accident prevention at level crossings. Participants received awareness leaflets and pledged to follow railway safety rules and encourage safe practices within their communities.
Organized by the Safety Department of Solapur Division, the campaign saw active involvement from the Divisional Railway Manager, branch officers, and railway staff. Officials reiterated the division’s commitment to enhancing public safety through continuous awareness initiatives targeting accident reduction at railway crossings.
