Indian Railways Sanctions ₹226 Crore Electronic Interlocking Project for 13 Stations in SECR Raipur Division

Indian Railways has approved a ₹226 crore project to install Electronic Interlocking (EI) systems at 13 stations on the Durg-Taroki section of the Raipur Division under South East Central Railway (SECR). This upgrade will replace the current Panel Interlocking (PI) setups with advanced Electronic Interlocking technology.

The project aims to significantly modernise signalling infrastructure, boosting operational safety and reliability on this crucial railway section. The installation of EI systems will enable safer, faster, and more reliable train operations by automating route setting and signalling functions with enhanced safety features.

Electronic Interlocking technology reduces the risk of signalling failures and ensures quicker restoration during disruptions, improving punctuality and efficiency. This initiative also supports the growing demands of passenger and freight traffic in the SECR network.

This approval is part of Indian Railways’ broader programme to upgrade signalling systems nationwide, harnessing advanced technologies for smarter and safer railway operations.
