
During his visit, Shri Vaishnaw held a review meeting with senior railway officials to evaluate progress on various developmental projects in the region.
A key part of the inspection was at Shakur Basti Depot, where the Minister examined the cutting-edge Retractable Overhead Equipment (OHE) system. This technology enhances safety and efficiency in locomotive and train maintenance within the sheds.
He also reviewed facilities such as the bogie pit and bogie lifting systems, instructing officials to further boost operational efficiency at ground level.
A highlight of the tour was the inspection of the Hydrogen Train project, an environmentally friendly green technology initiative poised to help Indian Railways achieve pollution-free operations in the future.
Coinciding with World Environment Day, Shri Vaishnaw participated in a plantation drive at the depot, planting a sapling and reaffirming Indian Railways’ dedication to environmental conservation.
Indian Railways is advancing rapidly toward 100% electrification, a critical step toward fulfilling the nation’s goal of becoming a Net-Zero Carbon Emitter.
The Minister engaged warmly with employees, maintenance staff, and railway personnel at Shakur Basti Depot, listening to their experiences and encouraging their efforts. He also directed senior officials to address and resolve staff concerns promptly.
Additionally, Shri Vaishnaw conducted a surprise inspection of Gurugram Railway Station, reviewing the ₹300 crore ongoing redevelopment project aimed at creating world-class passenger facilities. He provided necessary guidance to officials overseeing the works.
